The Fifth Young Researchers Summit on Business and Human Rights took place from April 2-3, 2020 in (online) Geneva. The Legal Referent and lead of the research stream on accountability in SeCoIIA, Ivo Emanuilov, LL.M, presented at this forum with a speech on human rights due diligence in Industry 4.0. In his presentation “Business and human rights in the factories of the future: Towards collaborative due diligence in digital supply chains”, Ivo discussed how the framework of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights applies to Industry 4.0. He argued that because of technological, structural and organisational challenges, the actors in Industry 4.0 can only discharge their corporate responsibility to respect human rights through collaborative human rights due diligence in cyber-physical supply networks. A full paper is coming up in the next few months.
